Realising we want more for ourselves as well as expecting more of ourselves is a leap in self-awareness that can benefit from therapeutic support.
Individual, relationship & family counselling
When is it a good time to see a counsellor?
When our internal worlds are at capacity with coping, counselling can be a safe place to say all the things out loud.
When a specific event happens like a death, a divorce or health news it can feel devastating and emotionally and physically painful. At these times, counselling can offer therapeutic support and practical tools for self-care. Or, counselling can be because we have sensed for some time that we aren't ok and we are seeking sustainable change.
Relationship & family counselling
Couples therapy
I invite couples into a particular conversation about the problems and issues impacting their relationship. Relationships can often become stuck in the heaviness of right and wrong and long-standing patterns of conflict that take a toll on daily life.
I offer guidance and support to explore redefining your relationship, rediscovering what is treasured and valued about the most important people in your life, and practical tools to take home with you.
For some, this will be a conversation about preparing for the intentional steps of repair and restoration. For others, it will be a vulnerable journey about how to take care of ourselves and each other when a relationship needs a considered pause or has reached an end.
For individuals, relationships & families
Neuroinclusive counselling
I offer therapy to neurodivergent folk who:
yearn to re-acquaint themselves with skills and knowledges that have been neglected or suppressed
are exploring identity after a diagnosis
self-identify as neurodivergent and are seeking support
want a safe place to learn and practice self-advocacy skills
want support in creating neurodivergent safe and supportive homes
Art therapy
When there are no words
Words needn’t be our only language of expressing or learning about ourselves. By using art materials to draw, paint or simply make markings on a surface we can gently access parts of ourselves we have found resisting ‘talking about it’.
Like any new tool, it can take time to find the right material for you—pencil, paint, textas or crayon can all be experienced differently. For some, collage is meaningful. For those experiencing sensory overwhelm or burnout, clay work can be transformative. Deciding to use art materials in a session is your choice. Sometimes, a session can be talk therapy, art therapy or a combination of both.

There is no recipe for counselling; one session can be enough for some new thinking. At times of crisis 6-8 sessions at regular intervals can be beneficial, or counselling can be on an as-needed basis.

It is a myth that you need to 'click' with your counsellor straight away. A relationship and trust can take time to build, but sometimes I won't be the right counsellor for you. This can be awkward to navigate but it is best that I find someone else for you who does suit. I see honesty as a reflection of authentic people doing their best so no hard feelings.

I’ll wait and be with you till the tears subside. In my experience, the tears only want to know they are possible. And then, the work begins.

If I see you out in public I will avoid making eye contact or simply pass you by. However, if you say hi to me first I would be delighted to acknowledge you or pause for a quick hi. Please raise this in the session if you foresee any potential crossing of paths.
