Rebecca Trevitt believes everyone's experiences are closely connect | Adelaide Therapist and Counsellor

For all those who feel their voices will never carry far enough to be heard.

I believe everyone’s experiences are closely connected. The comfort is that we are never as far from one another’s understanding and empathy as we are made to believe.

Hi, I’m Rebecca Trevitt; a counsellor, mother, artist and nature-lover based in Adelaide, South Australia. I offer counselling for individuals, couples and families.

With a counselling career spanning more than 20 years, I also have lived experience including divorce, co-parenting, generational trauma, late diagnosed neurodivergence, learning/academic disabilities and parenting multiply-neurodivergent kids through the education system, co-occurring mental health issues and school refusal.

I experience life with a sensitivity that is at odds with a big, noisy and complicated world. This takes a toll but also makes me ever curious about how others are feeling and coping. During difficult times, finding kindness and compassion towards others, our loved ones and ourselves can be hard. I offer counselling that is supportive, warm and invites a careful call to more vulnerability—I believe it is the key to generating sustainable change in our lives.

Our time together is accountable to outcomes that are tangible, measurable and meaningful to you.

Choose to have an intentional conversation with a counsellor to reconnect and store your alignment, values and beliefs.

Why I believe in Talk Therapy

My approach

Inner conflict happens when aspects of ourselves or choices we are making no longer fit with who we want to be. We can feel shame, guilt and remorse. Choosing to have an intentional conversation with a counsellor can reconnect and restore our alignment with our values and beliefs.

For some of us, gender, race, disability, sexuality, neurodivergence and trauma can unconsciously influence our sense of self. Being curious about these aspects can reveal the emotional tools needed to generate new ways of thinking and doing. All aspects of identity are warmly welcomed.

My counselling is trauma informed and neurodivergent, LGBTIQ+ and queer affirming. This means I am sensitive to the unique advocacy and health needs of all those who experience stigma and discrimination in relationships, families, workplaces and schools.

About me

With a counselling career spanning more than 20 years, including a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Adelaide University (2025), I have developed a intuitive, thoughtful and accountable personal style of counselling. Underpinning my approach is Narrative Therapy and I have completed multiple training programs at the Dulwich Centre here in my hometown of Adelaide, South Australia.

I am interested in how our individual beliefs, values and experiences shape our modern day striving for success and achievement. Counselling is only one tool for life’s journey, and I am always honoured to be momentarily included in people’s lives.
