Hi, I’m Rebecca Trevitt, I offer counselling for individuals, couples, families and neurodivergent folk.
About me
With a counselling career spanning more than 20 years, including a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Adelaide University (2025), I have developed an intuitive, thoughtful and accountable personal style of counselling.
Underpinning my approach is Narrative Therapy and I have completed multiple training programs at the Dulwich Centre here in my hometown of Adelaide, South Australia. My training ensures I am an accredited member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA).
I am interested in how our individual beliefs, values and experiences shape our modern day striving for success and achievement. And yet, many of us will describe resentment and disappointment at how our lives and relationships are going. At this point of disconnect, between what we thought we wanted and what we have, an opportunity to actively change direction presents itself. It is the gentle and intentional small changes that are the most rewarding and sustainable.
Counselling is only one tool for life’s journey, and I am always honoured to be momentarily included in people’s lives.

There is no recipe for counselling; one session can be enough for some new thinking. At times of crisis 6-8 sessions at regular intervals can be beneficial, or counselling can be on an as-needed basis.

It is a myth that you need to 'click' with your counsellor straight away. A relationship and trust can take time to build, but sometimes I won't be the right counsellor for you. This can be awkward to navigate but it is best that I find someone else for you who does suit. I see honesty as a reflection of authentic people doing their best so no hard feelings.

I’ll wait and be with you till the tears subside. In my experience, the tears only want to know they are possible. And then, the work begins.
-
If I see you out in public I will avoid making eye contact or simply pass you by. However, if you say hi to me first I would be delighted to acknowledge you or pause for a quick hi. Please raise this in the session if you foresee any potential crossing of paths.
-
Please call or get in touch to cancel or re-book your appointment. I understand life is hectic and unforeseen events get in the way of best intentions. If getting to appointments is continuously difficult for you, please reach out to share what else I can do to make it possible.
-
Fees are due immediately after the appointment. I have a Square payment 'tapper' that accepts most bank cards.
